A £1 MILLION scheme is being carried out in South West Wales in a drive to cut administrative errors in care home medication.
Figures show 70 per cent of care home residents in Swansea, Llanelli, Neath and Port Talbot, may experience the problem due to the risks involved in medicines management. The problem leads to one in 15 hospital visits.
A total of £500,000 of funding has been made available from the Welsh Government's Health Technologies Fund to Beacon Digital Limited to carry out the scheme.
Beacon Digital Limited executive chairman Professor Clive Bowman said he believed the approach would make a difference in allowing care homes to become safer places.
