Fire crew called to Swansea Beach

POLICE were called to Swansea Beach last night after traffic cones from nearby Oystermouth Road were set alight there.

The cones were taken from the section of roadworks near The Arches Hotel.

Officers went to the beach to investigate and called in a fire crew to tackle the incident.

The alarm was raised at 9.20pm and everything was under control within 15 minutes.

Fire crews had a busy night attending a spate of grass and rubbish fires, while they also had to deal with a car fire in Neath Road,Bryn, Port Talbot. The vehicle was destroyed.

They attended two rubbish fires in Port Talbot, at Tudor Street and Sandy Ridge, Sandfields.

And crews were called in to tackle grass fires in Swansea at Beaufort Road, Cadle; Pentregethin Road, Portmead; Carmel Road, Winch Wen; by McDonald's, Fabian way, Port Tennant, Dee Place, Cwmrhydyceirw and Frederick Place,Llansamlet.

In Gower there were two calls to Llangennith, at Kyfts Lane and Hardingsdown. And in Neath they attended a grass fire at Heol-y-Heddwch, Seven Sisters.
