THE X Factor auditions have arrived in Swansea.

This year X Factor is holding extra mobile auditions throughout the country, and today the show paid a visit to the city to uncover a singing superstar.

Auditions began at 10am in the Quadrant Shopping Centre this morning with scores of wannabe singers of all ages queuing up to be heard.

Adam Jones from Penclawdd sang Ed Sheeran’s A-Team.

The 23-year-old, who works as a retail and delivery driver, said unfortunately he didn’t get through.

“I enjoyed the experience,” he said.

“I sing everywhere. I sing on the till and in the van.”

Joseph Stockton, 16, Olchfa Comprehensive School said he loves to sing Michael Buble and Frank Sinatra songs.

“I have done leads in school productions,” he said.

“My dream would be to sing with a big band.”

Julie Williams, 35, from Glynneath also went to audition.

“I have been doing gigs on and off for about 10 years,” she said.

“So I thought I’d come down — you never know.”

Three sisters from Llanelli went to give it their best shot, but it wasn’t their first time.

Giusy, 33, Iolanda, 30 and Christina, 27 went through to bootcamp in 2007 as DiSalvo.

Giusy said: “We said we wouldn’t do it again, but because it is in Swansea we thought we would.”

Ingrid John from Gorseinon said it was a once in a lifetime chance.

“It has finally come to Swansea,” said the 22-year-old.

“I have probably been singing since 10, but not properly, just in front of groups of friends.”

Lorna Rees from Birchgrove turns 16 in a month. The 15-year-old came down to audition after she heard the age limit had been dropped to 14.

“I was not looking to come, but I thought I might as well,” she said.

The Birchgrove Comprehensive pupil also brought along her guitar for the audition.

“I have been playing since I was 12, but only had lessons since I was 13/14. I have been singing since I was 11.”

Jonny Caine also took his guitar along.

“I have been a singer songwriter since I was 18,” said the 32-year-old from Porthcawl.

“I will be singing my own song Rewind Your Life.”

The X Factor auditions will be visiting 43 towns and cities across the country — more than ever before. They will also be visiting nine cities as part of the main Open Audition Tour.
