A WOMAN has been robbed while walking behind Port Talbot Town Football Club.

Police say a man grabbed the 53-year-old from behind in a lane between Webb Place and Ruskin Avenue at around 5.45pm yesterday.

The attacker demanded she hand over her handbag. When she refused she was pushed to the ground and the man ran off towards Victoria Road.

The black handbag contained a black and white purse with a small quantity of cash, bank card, keys and family photographs.

Police have issued a description of the suspect.

He was white, aged 30, 5ft 2in, of medium build with close-cropped light-coloured hair. He wore a navy football-style jacket with stripes down the sleeves.

Detective Sergeant Lee Carpenter of Neath CID said: “This was a very distressing experience for this lady, who sustained minor injuries as a result of the attack.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of the football club at the time of the incident and saw this man or has relevant information to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Neath CID on 01792 640204, or 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
