Wing trio worked a treat, admits Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup

MICHAEL Laudrup reckons his trio of wingers worked a treat against Queens Park Rangers — but he is not sure when he will let them loose again.

With Leon Britton injured and Michu starting up front, Laudrup played Wayne Routledge in the central attacking midfield role with Pablo Hernandez and Nathan Dyer on the flanks.

And not for the first time this season, the ploy worked a treat.

Swansea proved too much for the Rangers rearguard to handle as the three natural wide players interchanged at will.

It was a similar story when Swansea beat West Brom 3-1 at the Liberty back in November.

Laudrup admitted after the QPR victory that Swansea's dominant performance in the first half reminded him of the opening period against West Brom, which was arguably the best 45 minutes his team have produced all season.

Persist

But that does not mean he will persist with the three widemen at Liverpool on Sunday.

"It's true the against QPR and against West Brom that playing all three worked really well," said Laudrup. "But we have tried it in a couple of other games where it didn't work so well.

"We have to look at the opponent and their characteristics before deciding how to play."

Tickets for the Liverpool game are on general sale now, while official travel club bookings are also being taken. Tickets for the upcoming games against Newcastle and West Brom are also available. See the club website for details of who can buy when.

Worked a treat against WBA too . .can't beat pace when used properly and our three wide players can be something special on their day . .they certainly make up for the lack of an out and out goal scorer that we will probably address in the Summer.
