WEST Ham have joined the race to sign Swansea City target Romelu Lukaku, and believe the fact they are London-based may prove decisive.
Swansea are hoping the 20-year-old Chelsea striker will agree a season-long loan switch to the Liberty.
The powerful Belgian excelled during a similar spell at West Brom last term, scoring 17 goals in 35 Premier League appearances.
That has attracted the interest of a host of Premier League clubs.
"Lukaku would be a loan again. We'd maybe buy him a year later if Chelsea decide they don't want him," said West Ham co-owner David Sullivan.
"Lukaku has been amazing for West Brom this season and I'd hope that he would prefer to live in London."
