A WELSH MP has called for the further devolution of taxation powers from Westminster to Wales.

Roger Williams, Liberal Democrat MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, asked Nick Clegg during Deputy Prime Minister's questions, when the Government would bring forward legislation granting more powers to raise taxation and make the Welsh Assembly more accountable.

The recommendation was made by the Silk Commission.

Mr Clegg said: "We are devolving power to the most appropriate level through local enterprise partnerships, local government finance reforms, giving local authorities a general power of competence, and city deals."

Mr Williams said he hoped the plan would go ahead. "As we continue to push for more devolved power to Wales, it is only right that the Assembly becomes more accountable," he added.

"The Silk Commission should be applauded and I hope to see a number of its recommendations implemented through Government legislation."

Give the full powers of devolution, not just the good bits. Then you will see Wales a third world country. The assembly is wasting money and running our country into the ground very fast.
