THE Welsh Government is spending more than £180,000 on a Millennium Stadium hospitality box, it has emerged.
Website Wales Eye is reporting that more than 70 business people have been wined and dined in the box during international rugby matches since November.
The Welsh Government signed a four year deal for use of the box last year — but initially declined to say how much it was paying.
However, following a Freedom of Information Act request, it has now confirmed that the price is £45,600 per season.
But the website says the Welsh Government is refusing to provide the names of individuals who have received the hospitality at the Cardiff stadium.
First minister Carwyn Jones and Business Minister and Gower AM Edwina Hart gave the go-ahead for the corporate box in July.
A Welsh Government cabinet notice said the box was used to “target companies that have a significant interest in Wales and those businesses that can contribute to the Welsh economy”.
