WALES have chosen Ospreys flanker Justin Tipuric ahead of Grand Slam skipper Sam Warburton for Friday's game against Samoa.
Warburton is named on the bench, with Ryan Jones captaining his country for a record 29th time.
Ospreys back-rower Jones, who will start at blindside flanker, takes the record from Ieuan Evans and is one of eight changes to the team which lost 26-12 to Argentina last Saturday.
Wales have also chosen Dan Biggar at fly-half ahead of Rhys Priestland, and the Osprey 10 will be joined by Mike Phillips at half-back.
Jamie Roberts has been passed fit to start at inside centre, and he is joined in midfield by Ashley Beck, who is one of seven Ospreys in the starting line-up.
Hooker Richard Hibbard, starts in place of the injured Matthew Rees, while Blues lock Bradley Davies comes in for Alun Wyn Jones, who has been ruled out for the entire autumn series with a shoulder problem.
Former Ospreys prop Paul James replaces Gethin Jenkins at loose-head and, while Tavis Knoyle and Priestland are on the bench, James Hook is dropped from the matchday squad.
Interim head coach Rob Howley said: "With a short six day turnaround it was important for us to freshen things up and also make use of the competition for places we have within this squad, something which has been a key ingredient for the success of the squad over the last 18 months.
"In making changes we also needed to bring in some genuine experience. It is important to have leaders throughout the team and we are hoping the likes of Mike Phillips, who made a positive impact last week, can bring his experience to the side.
"Ryan reaches an impressive personal milestone, it will be a huge honour for him but in the context of what happened last week his and the team's priorities are about producing a performance."
