MICHU of Swansea City has his first call-up to the Spain squad, and now he has the shirt to prove it.
The striker has taken part in a photo shirt wearing jog bottoms and the new Spanish shirt.
Michu learned on Sunday night that he had been called up to Vicente del Bosque’s squad after Atletico Madrid’s David Villa pulled out through injury.
The former Rayo Vallecano man was preferred to Spurs frontman Roberto Soldado and Juventus’s Fernando Llorente.
It has taken a while for del Bosque to offer Michu a chance, having watched him in a 0-0 draw at Everton last January when speculation suggested a cap was close.
Michu will now hope to make his international debut against Belarus in Majorca on Friday or when Georgia visit Albacete four days later.
Earlier this week Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins said Michu could go on to achieve great things for both Swansea and Spain.
“As a club we are delighted he has got the call-up for Spain,” said Mr Jenkins.
“It is fantastic that he has been included in the Spanish squad because of his performances with Swansea in the Premier League. It is a massive compliment and achievement for Michu and Swansea City that he has been called up by the current European and world champions.”
