MICHAEL J Fox had one in Back to the Future 2.
And now you can own a hoverboard as well, if you believe in the power of Hollywood to predict the future.
The skateboard that hovers above the ground has come to life in a film put together by its makers - HUVrtech.
Christopher Lloyd, who played mad scientist Emmett "Doc" Brown, in the equally fictional Back to the Future movie trilogy, has been brought in by HUVrtech to star in the launch video for the HUVr.
Arriving in the famed DeLorean gull-winged car from the movie, he says that at the time of making Back to the Future 2 he would have loved for the hoverboard to become a reality.
But now, he says, “the technology has caught up with the concept”.
Other stars such as musician Moby, athlete Terrell Owens, and rap artist Schoolboy Q, are also invited to try out the HUVr board.
The science behind the HUVr is a little fuzzy.
But you can find out for yourself just how it works when it launches in shops, probably around April 1.
