MORE schools could go up on the eastern edge of Swansea.

As the Post reported last week, an urban village could be built next to the former tinplate works at Felindre. The plan is to create a development of social and private housing, schools and community facilities.

The Welsh Government will carry out a feasibility study on 250 acres it owns north of M4 junction 46. The results will be submitted to Swansea Council as part of the consultation on the authority's Local Development Plan which closes in October.

Welsh Business Minister Edwina Hart said: "The study into proposals for a new sustainable urban village will outline broad uses for the site. The information is needed to help inform any future decision and is a vital piece of work to take these proposals to the next stage."

There is no indication how many houses the scheme would include.

So there we have it - WAG and Edwina appear to have made up their minds on this before the consultation has even ended. So much for democracy!
