IT was a homecoming fit for footballing heroes.

Twenty thousand Swansea City fans lined the streets as they welcomed home the players fresh from their Capital One Cup final victory at Wembley on Sunday.

In scenes familiar to fans who came out in their droves two years ago following the play-off final win, supporters young and old braved the cold temperatures to salute the team's historic achievement.

Father and son Roy and Kevin Thomas, from Morriston, were stood on the Kingsway.

Chris Gay had brought his little lad Joshua, 5, to see the homecoming parade.

The 25-year-old from Penlan said: "It was one of the best days of my life at Wembley, the atmosphere, you couldn't have written it.

After an incredible season, winning the cup and qualifying for Europe, I believe Michael Laudrup (and his family, of course) should be given the Freedom of the City.
