Taste of success for town

PONTARDAWE is looking a whole lot tastier, and it isn't just because pie experts Greggs have moved in.

The busy little town has enjoyed a makeover of late, with repairs and upgrades to the streets, public toilets, the arts centre and car park.

Now the next phase of the spruce-up continues, with Neath Port Talbot Council putting the finishing touches to improvement works along Herbert Street.

Council leader, Ali Thomas, said: "Improving the attractiveness of the town centre has surely influenced the decision of Greggs bakery to locate here.

"Hopefully this will encourage other High Street retailers to do likewise and complement the existing excellent choice provided by local independent traders already in the town."

    So Ali Thomas thinks that Greggs will give Pontardawe a boost but also thinks that charging for parking cars will do no harm to the town. It must be good to have two faces, one for each situation.
