Police are hunting for a man who robbed a pensioner of her handbag in Swansea.

Detectives say the 62-year-old woman was "very shaken and upset" following the incident, which happened at about 6pm on Sunday, November 11.

It is understood the victim was walking down Walter Road in the direction of Nichol Street when she was approached from behind and her handbag was wrenched from her shoulder.

The man was then seen to run off down Nichol Street and through a connecting lane into George Street.

The only description of the man is that he was of stocky build.

Officers say the woman's handbag was later recovered from the front garden of a house on George Street.

South Wales Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any relevant information to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
