SWANSEA Council has employed 302 young people since May last year.
None of these youngsters, aged 16 to 25, were formally in the care of the council.
The information followed a question by councillors Paul Meara, Mike Day, Cheryl Philpott and Huw Rees.
They wanted to know the numbers employed and how many were in council care.
Cabinet member for opportunities for children and young people, Mitch Theaker, responded with the figures, adding that it raised concerns as the council "should be well practised in offering employment opportunities to these young people who need support".
