SWANSEA City are set to complete the signing of Jose Canas from Real Betis on July 1.
The deal has long been in the pipeline and Canas is believed to have signed a pre-contract agreement several months ago.
He was linked with Swansea during the January transfer window, but Betis wanted a significant free to let him go at that stage.
The Spanish club conceded even then that Canas was likely to join Swansea come the end of the campaign.
A combative midfielder, he has only ever played for Betis, racking up more than 100 appearances for the La Liga outfit, and is also thought to have attracted interest from West Brom.
His deal with Betis expires at the end of the month and he will now finalise a switch to Swansea when the transfer window opens.
The 26-year-old impressed in Spain last season as his side booked a Europa League place.
He helped the club win promotion back to the top flight in 2011 and made 27 appearances last term.
Canas becomes Swansea's first signing of the summer.
