MICHU has been ruled out of Swansea City's clash with Aston Villa amid growing concerns that he will not play again this season.
Last year's 22-goal top scorer has not featured in Swansea's last two games because of fresh issues with his troublesome ankle.
And he will be absent again when Villa come to the Liberty on Saturday after returning to his native Spain for treatment on the problem.
With just a fortnight of the season remaining, it could be that Swansea give up on Michu for this campaign and focus instead on trying to get him right for the start of 2014-15. "There are only three games to go, and he is obviously ruled out of this weekend," said Swansea coach Alan Curtis.
"The truth is we don't know (when he will be available), I don't think the medical staff are sure. "But I think if we can secure safety it might be best to leave him really so he has the summer to rest and get some treatment, then when we report back in July he will be refreshed and be the player he was for us last season."
As well as Michu, Swansea are without the suspended Chico Flores for the Villa game.
But boss Garry Monk should have all his other senior figures available as Swansea go in search of the victory which could ensure they remain a Premier League club come August.
