JONATHAN de Guzman has admitted he'd love to remain at Swansea City beyond the end of the season.

The midfielder is due to return to parent club Villarreal when his loan spell with Michael Laudrup's side ends in May.

But the Holland Under-21 cap hopes that stay can be extended because he's enjoying life in South Wales so much.

"If there is an opportunity, I would really love to stay," said de Guzman.

"I am very happy here. It's a great group, not just the players but the guys around the place. The staff and the fans. It's a family club and I really like that.

"There is something good happening here and I like being part of it.

"I am happy here so we will see what happens. It is going well, I have scored six goals so I'm a happy camper."

The Canadian-born player netted a brace as Swansea beat Stoke 3-1 on Saturday.

His first was a sensational free-kick that curled over the wall, past Asmir Begovic and into the corner of the net.

Then the 25-year-old rounded off a flowing Swansea move by firing into the bottom corner after Danny Graham received Wayne Routledge's pass and set him free.

"I am normally the guy who takes the free-kicks and it's something I practice a lot. It was nice to take it into a match," added de Guzman.

"For the second, I think Wayne passed to Danny, he saw me go and he played the flick.

"Our understanding has always been good and he knows where I am.

"He put it perfectly in my path and it was there for me to finish off."

Dont get me wrong, I would like him to stick around, but when you look at how much the other guys are on, you cant honestly look at DGZ and say he should now become our highest paid player. If that were true leon britton would be worth 10.

Glad he got two goals, but there now way he is worth 5-6 million and become our best paid player. There have been plenty of games I have seen very mediocre performances from him and given he takes all our free kicks you are going to score a couple from them he must have had 20+ direct kicks this year and got like 2 goals from them. Everyone is going to try and get top money for players coming to swansea now cos they all know we got michu for a bargain and are likely to make money off him and see us with money to burn and feel like they can charge us top whack. No one is going to buy guzman for 5+ million inc addons unless he starts playing like that in every game. If you start paying players like him 6 million, before you know it everyone in the squad is going to want a bump, so that 6 million could be the start of a big spending spree to keep what we have.
