A SWANS fan has penned a new song about a white dove to help make star player Michu feel wanted and not to take flight in the face of potential multi-million pound swoops from rival teams.
Last week saw Swans boss Michael Laudrup say his star player is worth at least £30million after the Spaniard earned envious glances from bigger teams following his feat of topping the Premier League goalscoring table.
And teammates have gone as far as calling on the club and city to make the midfielder feel so welcome in south west Wales that he would not want to leave.
Now Ronnie Watkins, a 70-year-old Swans fan from Blackpill, has come up with a novel way of getting the message over to the player known in Spanish as the White Dove.
The retired haulier said: "I was reading the Evening Post and I saw that Angel Rangel was calling on us all to make Michu feel special, to help make sure that he stays with the club.
"I used to live in Spain and his nickname there, with him being such a good header of the ball, was Una Paloma Blanca, or the White Dove in English.
"I have written a song based upon the Spanish tune Una Paloma Blanca and would love to see it printed in the programme and taken up by the fans in the Liberty Stadium."
The song is set to get its first airing tonight as the Swans welcome Middlesbrough to the Liberty Stadium in the quarter final of the Capital Cup.
Mr Watkins said: "Ironically I was born in Middlesbrough but I'm a Swans fan now having lived here for 10 years."
The football fanatic also wants to raise money for charity by getting his hero to sign two special sweat shirts he has had made.
He said: "I thought that it would be nice to get Michu to sign them and then auction them off for the children's ward in Singleton hospital. I wore one in town on Saturday before the Norwich game everyone was asking me all about it, and when I went up to the Liberty stadium people were going bananas."
A spokesman for the Swans said: "Everybody in Swansea has made Michu and his fellow Spaniards feel at home and the likes of this song will inspire him to keep scoring."
