A SPECIAL service is to be held to say goodbye to the vicar of Burry Port with Pwll, the Rev Paul Davies.

A Eucharist will be held at St Mary's Church at 6.30pm on Thursday.

The Rev Davies said: "There is an invitation for everyone to come.

"It has been an exciting time to be in Burry Port. There's so much going on in terms of regeneration. It's a growing town."

The Rev Davies has been promoted to Archdeacon of Bangor, a rank beneath Bishop, and at the age of 38 he is the youngest in Wales.

Warden, Glynis Sage, said: "The service will be a celebration of Paul and will be a chance to recognise his achievements in the parish.

"We want to emphasise how special Paul has been and how much we will miss him."
