Scarlets players at Nando’s restaurant in Llanelli

LLANELLI got an early Christmas present yesterday — with the opening of the town's brand new Nando's restaurant.

And almost the entire Scarlets team was invited along to the opening to become the outlet's first official customers.

After digging into a half chicken, winger George North explained why the players — as well as fellow Llanelli athlete Dai Greene — were such fans of the Portuguese eatery. "Obviously nutrition and diet is a massive part of it, and chicken is protein," he said.

And George said he hoped the restaurant, part of the £20 million Eastgate development, would form part of the overall regeneration taking place in the town centre.

"It's not just Nando's — there's Costa and the Odeon," he said. "I think it's going to be really good for Llanelli."
