DAVIDE Santon says Newcastle United will owe their fans a victory against Swansea City on Saturday.
The Italian full-back played in the Magpies' 1-0 home defeat to West Ham last Sunday, which left Newcastle in tenth place, one point and one position above the Swans.
Newcastle have only picked up one Premier League win since September 23, and Santon believes their supporters are due something to cheer about.
"We have to think about Swansea, winning that game and giving something to the fans," he said.
"Everybody was a little bit angry — it (the West Ham match) was an important game for us.
"We tried to come back in the game, but it was difficult. It wasn't a good game for us."
Santon, 21, had gone into the West Ham encounter buoyed by his recall to the Italy squad for tonight's friendly against France.
But, with the 1-0 reverse taking the shine off his return to the international set-up, Santon said his focus remained on improving Newcastle's league form when the Swans visit St James' Park.
"I'm happy to be back with Italy, but my first team is Newcastle," said the former Inter defender.
"I just have to think about winning for Newcastle, and afterwards the international team.
"I'm happy, of course, to be back with Italy, but I'd be more happy if I'd had a win with Newcastle.
"It's been a long time (without an Italy call-up) — I was injured, and didn't play for a year and a half.
"I'm excited to see all my friends in Italy. After the game, I'll come back and think about Swansea."
Meanwhile, tickets for Swansea's Capital One Cup quarter-final against Middlesbrough at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday, December 12, go on sale today.
Competition rules mean the visiting team are entitled to a 15 per cent allocation (3,100). That means season ticket holders in the North Stand will be relocated to the East, West or South Stands for this fixture — but it will not be a reserved seat.
All North Stand season ticket holders will be guaranteed a seat for the game, provided they purchase in the time frame outlined on the club website.
