WORK has now been completed on the section of Brynmill Lane which was closed last weekend after a tree fell down on a car.

Emily and Piers Tumeth and their two young daughters had a lucky escape last Saturday when it crashed down from Singleton Park on to a wall which in turn hit their Mazda car.

Mrs Tumeth told the Post: "We were just driving along when, all of a sudden, the wall started crumbling and hit the car — it was all over so quickly.

"We had a really lucky escape — I don't want to think about what could have happened to us."

Council officers removed the tree and checked others in the area to make sure there was no danger of a repeat incident.

A spokesman for Swansea Council said: "As discussed, the section of Brynmill Lane between its junctions with Bryn Road and Langland Terrace has been closed this week after a tree fell down on a car last weekend and damaged a section of the wall there.

"Our parks staff have now completed extensive work on the lane to remove the fallen tree as well as a few others deemed to be unsafe in the area.

"Other trees have also been cut back in the area to allow the road to safely reopen. Wood that's been taken away is being stored in a council depot."
