Sacrificing our landscape

ENJOY the fantastic wilderness called Mynydd y Gwair while you can. Swansea councillors have in their wisdom given their approval by 27 votes to 24 to destroy this ancient unspoilt landscape with the construction of a massive wind factory with all the service roads, concrete, cables and other elements associated with such a large industrial development. They have sacrificed a beautiful corner of Swansea for very little gain and have shown the utmost contempt to the people who live and work in that area! The sad fact is that the only beneficiaries of this appalling decision is multi-millionaire landowner the Duke of Beaufort and RWE Npower Renewables, the company which intends building these monstrosities. They must be rubbing their hands with glee.

NeathboyCLM I spend hundreds of pounds on books ( I have a private library of over 3,000) because I wish to educate myself. Then when I discuss something I have a fair idea of what I am talking about. You on the other hand seem to revel in your ignorance ' Hey look at me I'm stupid'. Before attempting to take part in a discussion in any meaningful way using the medium of the written word you will really have to learn how to do just that. Your appalling attempts to write English is just cringeworthy. Please go away and see if you can find someone in Junior school you can help you with this.

My last entry has a simple typographical error because my keyboard buttons are sticking. The phrase "you do don't" should be "you don't" ,........ before you throw it back at me !

Neathboy234, It is obvious you do don't understand simple English. I have not spent hundreds of pounds on books regarding wind energy...as I've just said. However , I have read Dr John Etherington's book "THE WIND FARM SCAM " , which is an excellent critique on the stupidity of wind energy. i suggest that anyone wanting to learn about this ridiculous wind scam , should read that. WITHOUT HUGE SUBSIDIES...WIND ENERGY WOULD BE A NON-STARTER !! Anyway, Neath Boy, it seems you would BENEFIT from reading books, because your English grammar is atrocious !! Look at your last entry:- "Boy's i'm feeling really sorry for you now. Spending hundreds of pounds on various book, and they still keep on building new wind turbines. As i said i'm gutted for you both, lol lol lol" [1] "Boy's " should be "boys"......because it is a PLURAL.......so why the APOSTROPHE?? Do you sell "apple's and banana's " as well ??? [Ask someone with 11-plus English to explain!!] [2] Then you have "various book" instead of "various books". [3] Plus you have a lower case "i" there twice.....instead of a capital "I ". You really need to spend some money on books [ not book's] !! How about starting with "Andy Pandy" and "Mickey Mouse" , until you find your level ?? Within 2 years , I reckon you could get to "Beano " level.

I agree.., Maxmin ,but I NO-ONE need spend any money researching this. It is COMMON SENSE!! If people cannot see that the wind disappears REGULARLY...both in the evening.....and under Anticyclonic weather systems......[HIGH PRESSURE systems , Neath Boy !!] So wind turbines STOP in light winds ...or when there is no wind.... and generate ZILCH.......as they do under strong winds. WHAT GOOD IS THAT, NEATH BOY ?? A CHILD CAN SEE THESE SIMPLE THINGS.... SO, WHY CAN'T YOU NEATH BOY?? THE OVERHEADS OF BACK-UP FOSSIL FUEL POWER STATIONS REMAIN IF THEY CAN@T BE CLOSED DOWN !!....AND THEY CAN'T BECAUSE WIND IS NOT THERE 24/7 !! SO THE RENTAL COSTS , RATES, REPAIR COSTS, AND LABOUR COSTS OF THE FOSSIL FUEL POWER STATIONS REMAIN THE SAME........WIND OR NO WIND !! WHAT ARE YOU SAVING WHEN THE WIND IS BLOWING NOW AND AGAIN????????? Put "Danish wind turbine explodes " into Google or You Tube and you will see the film of a wind generator blowing up dangerously when it spins out of control !...SPECTACULAR !! WHAT ABOUT DANGER TO HELICOPTERS ??? NO-ONE HAS REPLIED ON THAT !! THE CRANE IN LONDON WAS NOT AS BIG AS THE 475 FT FORESTS OF TURBINES THAT WILL CLAD 1500 FT WELSH HILLS !! ACCUMULATIVE HEIGHT ABOVE SEA LEVEL WILL BE NEARLY 2000 FEET ! ANSWER THAT, NEATH BOY !!

Notowind, Amazing isn't it? People like you and I do our homework, we spend hundreds of pounds on buying books on the subject, we actually go out and talk to experts in the field, then poor old Neathboy CLM jumps up screaming that he is right and everyone else is wrong, even though he can't "wright" two words without getting them wrong.

Maxmin, I've known Dr John Etherington [ to correspond with ] for over 14 years . He KNOWS his FACTS regarding wind energy. Hence THE WIND FARM SCAM is an EXCELLENT BOOK ! Dr John was an university lecturer who has studied wind energy in depth for over 20 years. Of course he is right, as you say. Please say so in Press letters to the Evening Post...and other papers. Neath Boy234 says "wright" [ not write] to newspapers and "your" instead of "you're" !! Education must have passed him by !! He does not answer any relevant facts on the shortcomings of wind energy. How can wind energy replace ANYTHING if the wind disappears regularly? Plain common sense !! What is the point of Germany shutting nuclear stations when FRANCE does not? FRANCE IS FAR CLOSER TO LONDON THAN SCOTLAND IS !! French nuclear stations are in Britanny and the Cotentin Peninsula of Normandy....JUST ACROSS FROM THE SOUTH COAST OF ENGLAND !! Wylfa will be replaced by Wylfa 2 as well. Fracking has a lot going for it.....but WIND ENERGY is useless. 60000MW needs 120,000 GIGANTIC 400 ft wind generators....PLUS 100 PER CENT FOSIL OR NUCLEAR BACK UP !! Wales is 8015 sq miles !! England is 50000 sq miles ! ALL COMMON SENSE ! [ Capitals are for emphasis...just as the Press use them]

notowind i wouldn't say i'm a non-entity, i'd say i'm more of an irrelevance. As indeed is everyone else who posts on here. Oh you might think your important because you wright the odd letter here and there but your not. I'll tell you is also irrelevant, the 24 councilors who voted against this excellent proposal. That's the way democracy works, and long may it last. I'm sure you will agree. PS stop shoutinggggggggggggggggggg

A new barrage across the Severn Estuary would damage the Welsh economy, Bristol's elected mayor has said. George Ferguson said the barrage would have a detrimental impact if trade at the port of Avonmouth is affected as a result of the proposed £30bn project. Campaigners for the barrage claim it could provide 5% of the UK's electricity and create thousands of jobs. Mr Ferguson told BBC Sunday Politics Wales he was worried the barrage would prevent or slow down ships entering Avonmouth. He said: "I think it's in the interest of the whole region that we have a successful port in the Severn of which our port on Avonmouth is a successful port. He said he did not see much economic or environmental benefit from a barrage.
