TYCROES kept a firm grip on the division four west title with a 53-0 home win against Betws to stay five points clear at the top.

Tycroes were 24-0 up by half-time and scored nine tries in total, shared between full-back Simon Cooper (2), prop Trystan Morgan (2), openside flanker Aaron Price, centre Steven Roach, fly-half Dean Bromham, scrum-half Matthew James on permit from Pantyffynnon, and wing Grant Williams, who also kicked four conversions.

Furnace squandered several try chances in their 36-30 home defeat by Aberaeron. And to make matters worse, two of the visitors' four tries were as a result of a chargedown and an interception.

Furnace crossed for five tries, three of them by wing Tom Barnes, the others going to centre Nick Stevenson and scrum-half Luke Jenkins.

Fly-half Ashley Powell landed one penalty and centre Jamie Herbert a conversion.

Second-from-bottom Burry Port won 23-20 at bottom club Neyland, Trimsaran went down 24-13 at Nantgaredig and mid-table Hendy lost at home to second-placed Llanybyffer 43-27.
