MUMBLES community councillors have agreed to give the village rugby club £2,500 towards ongoing work to improve drainage at Underhill Park.

As well as the grant to Mumbles Rugby Club, councillors are also helping out Mumbles Rangers football club with a £422 donation for kit for the under-13s team.

The youngsters are heading off to Italy where they will be representing Wales in a competition in Genoa.

Another grant of £1,500 was also agreed at Tuesday's monthly meeting for a Dylan Thomas-themed exhibition at the Oriel Bach Gallery.

Meanwhile members were also told that an election was due to take place for a vacant Mayals seat on the council on June 19.

Anyone looking to stand as a candidate must submit nomination papers to Swansea Council's returning officer by 4pm on May 22.
