GOWERTON Comprehensive School pupils learnt the rules of the railway thanks to a safety talk.

Community councillor Martin Baker spoke during the school's Personal Social Education 'super-learning' event, which addressed some issues surrounding the subject, such as healthy living and personal hygiene.

The talk came after multi-million pound plans were recently announced to replace the Loughor viaduct, increasing rail services between Gowerton and Llanelli and adding a new platform at Gowerton station.

Jayne Mykisova, head of Year 8 at the school, said: "It was definitely an eye-opener.

"The pupils found it very engaging and interesting.

"Mr Baker used video clips and a quiz to alert them to some of the dangers involved in rail safety.

"They are at the age where they need to be given the facts so we were very grateful to him for coming in."
