PROPERTY consultants promoting plans for a housing development in Swansea will host a public exhibition of the proposals on Wednesday this week.

Between 20 and 30 new high-quality homes are being proposed for part of the former Bible College Wales site in Sketty, under plans put forward by leading property consultants Jones Lang LaSalle.

The consultants claim the development on the western side of Derwen Fawr Road, will offer a range of "much-needed" family homes and breathe new life into the site which has been vacant since the Bible College relocated.

A spokesman for Jones Lang LaSalle said the homes will be designed to retain the character of the area and provide connections to the surrounding countryside with newly built and existing footpaths leading to a woodland reserve and the Clyne Valley Country Park.

The consultant, acting on behalf of the landowner Global Horizons Trust, has held preliminary discussions with Swansea Council and is now asking people living nearby for their views on the plans.

Kevin Hunt, associate director at Jones Lang LaSalle, is leading the planning application process and said: "New homes are desperately needed in the area and these plans mean the site can become a lively community once again.

"We hope our proposals will be seen as being in keeping with the character and feel of the area and that's why we're keen to hear the views of the local community, to ensure we're getting it right."

A public exhibition and consultation event to present the development proposals will be held at the United Reformed Church, Sketty Park Road on Wednesday from 2.30pm to 7pm.
