British Transport Police (BTP) is appealing for help in identifying two men they would like to speak to after a member of rail staff was abused on board a train between Cardiff and Bridgend.

Officers have today released CCTV images of two individuals they believe may have information about the incident.

Investigating officer PC Steve Barr said: “Two men on the 10:45pm Cardiff to Carmarthen service began exchanging insults regarding football.

"When the train guard approached them and asked them to stop swearing, they initially complied before again starting to shout and swear at each other.

“They were asked a second time to calm down and mind their language but at this point they both became extremely abusive to the train guard and pushed her away. The tirade of abuse continued as both men left the train at Pencoed.

“Although uninjured, she was understandably upset by the behaviour of the men, which was entirely unacceptable. Staff have the right to go about their work without suffering abusive and threatening behaviour.”

The incident happened just after 11pm on Saturday, 26 January.

PC Barr added: “Thankfully the victim, a 51–year-old woman, was not injured in the attack, but the frightening incident left her shocked and distressed.

Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 quoting background reference B5/WCA of 03/04/2013. Information can also be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

If this lady is working on these trains at 11pm the company should at least supply her with a tazer.
