CLYDACH Community Council has vowed not to surrender in its battle to get funding to set up a Forces rehabilitation centre.

Despite being turned down for a grant from The Armed Forces Covenant Fund to convert part of Clydach War Memorial Hospital into a rehab centre it has promised to soldier on.

A spokeswoman for a panel, tasked with distributing Government money to projects that help servicemen and women, said an application and business plan did not contain "all the information we needed".

Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board has agreed to the sale of Clydach War Memorial Hospital to Gwalia who are said to be behind the project, alongside the community council.

Also supporting the move are a host of organisations such as SAFFA and the British Legion but councillors were keen to distance themselves from ForcesAid Foundation, which has no part in the project. Councillor Julie Davies said: "We will continue to fight to get this off the ground for everyone who is supporting the project."
