A NEW fitness centre opening in Swansea next month is flexing its muscles with a no frills formula.
Simply Gym, located in Swansea's Enterprise Zone, will offer more than 100 pieces of cardio and strength-training equipment - plus a 'Ladies Only' workout area, showers, changing rooms and locker facilities.
With monthly membership starting at £9.99, the gym hopes to appeal to people struggling to pay for expensive monthly gym subscriptions in the city.
The 9,000 square foot venue is also set to create 20 new jobs, and will be run by Swansea-based Bay Leisure, which also operates the already popular LC off Oystermouth Road.
Bay Leisure Chief Executive Richard Proctor described the new gym as ideal for people in Swansea who want to get fit without breaking the bank.
"In the current economic climate, people from all walks of life are watching their budgets and we are offering a package to customers at an affordable price," he said.
Vicky Cokeley, who works at Swansea's DVLA centre, said many of her colleagues had already signed up.
"There is a big demand for office workers to keep fit in Llansamlet as its near work, and most places charge for facilities that I wouldn't use such as the pool," she said.
"I am really conscious about the price I pay, so this option seems very reasonable."
