NEATH have signed former Ospreys lock James Goode as a player-coach from Newcastle.

The Welsh All Blacks have also snapped up hooker Ieuan Dobbs, with both players penning two-year contracts.

Goode, 30, played two games for Neath during a brief loan spell last season before returning to Newcastle, where he helped them win the English Championship.

Cardiff-born Goode spent five seasons with the Blues and also had three years in New Zealand playing for Manawatu before joining the Ospreys in 2009.

Goode said: "I'm at the age now where I need to look into a career after rugby, and having spoken to Neil (Edwards, Neath's head coach) about his vision for where he wants Neath rugby to be, I felt like this was the perfect opportunity to continue to play rugby in an ambitious side whilst pursuing things outside of rugby.

"The coaching role also allows me to develop myself in an area that interests me greatly."

Edwards added: "James is a player with great experience.

"He's just finishing off as a full-time player and we're delighted that he's joining us not only as a player but as the fourth member of our coaching team.

"He's a player of great experience, a good leader and all-round a great acquisition for the club. I'm looking forward to working with him on and off the field."

Dobbs, 29, is vastly experienced and, after starting with Pontypridd and the Celtic Warriors academy, he spent four years at Bridgend before joining Swansea.

"Ieuan is an experienced hooker and we're delighted to have him on board," said Edwards.

"He's a very good player and a good bloke, and like James, he's very keen to help us take the club forward on the field."
