ONE man has more reason than most to be celebrating today — after being named the Most Desirable David.

Brian David, from Neath, was nominated by his wife in a competition to celebrate St David's Day — which coincidentally, is also his birthday.

Peter's Pies invited members of the public to nominate people.

While Mr David, who turns 51 today, is a David by surname, if his grandfather had named him, he would have been David David.

His wife, Karen, pictured with David, who nominated her husband of 30 years for the accolade said: "He's such a patriotic Welshman that he couldn't have been born on a more perfect day, I knew I had to put him forward. He's a fantastic family man and a wonderful dad to our son Steven and a grandfather to William, five, and Joseph who is 10 months. "He's always doing something to help somebody and I'm absolutely delighted."

The prize is an overnight stay at Cardiff's luxury St David's Hotel and Spa.

Mr David said: "Karen's always looking at fun things for us to get involved with, and I'm sure we'll have a laugh when we check in as Mr and Mrs David at St David's Hotel."
