YOUNGSTERS from Neath have signed up to take part in this year's Big Lunch event.
The 3rd Neath Rainbow and Brownies were one of the first to start preparations for their party.
The Big Lunch, which falls on Sunday, June 1 this year, is an initiative from the Eden Project and is funded by The Big Lottery Fund. The idea is that it encourages neighbourhoods and communities across the UK to come together on one day to share a few hours of food, friendship and fun.
The youngsters will also be able to achieve a special Big Lunch badge. The badge requires them to plan their lunch in detail and talk about the benefits of having a community Big Lunch.
Deputy chief commissioner of Girlguiding Cymru and leader at the 3rd Brownie and Rainbow group, Lesley Matthews said they were really excited about the event. "We will be encouraging as many of our girls to achieve their Big Lunch badge as a result," she said.
"The Big Lunch will be a lovely way for us to open up the doors of our Rainbow, Brownie and Guide units across Wales and reach out to everyone in our wider community network, both old and young, to join in the fun."
