A 45-YEAR-OLD man suffered facial injuries in a "despicable" street robbery.
Police are investigating the attack in Burry Port and are appealing for witnesses.
They have also stepped up patrols in the area following the incident.
Dyfed-Powys Police said the victim was walking along Gors Road in the town just before midnight on Saturday.
According to the force he was approached by a group of males, who then assaulted him and took his money.
During the incident he sustained minor facial injuries and had to go to hospital for treatment.
Three men were arrested on suspicion of robbery.
They were two teenagers aged 16 and 18, and a 40 year-old man.
Police say all three have since been bailed and inquiries are ongoing.
Burry Port PC Vanessa Vaughan said: "We are treating this despicable incident very seriously and would be grateful for any witnesses to come forward and assist with the inquiry. We would like to reassure the community that such attacks are rare."
PC Vaughan said the force was aware there was concern in the area following the attack.
"PCSOs will be paying extra patrols in the area in order to reassure residents," she added.
