SWANSEA tennis prodigy Luke Simeone reached the finals of the recent under-16 boys' winter National Tour Finals.

Number four seed Luke (right) started strongly, winning his first-round match 6-4 6-0 against Ben Horton from Sussex.

In the quarter-final the West Cross teenager had to overcome a tough opponent in Luke Oakley from Warwickshire but came through 3-6 6-2 7-5.

The semi-final saw Luke take on the No. 1 seed, George Hedley of Berkshire, who is currently ranked No. 3 in Britain.

The match lasted for over two hours, Luke winning another tough contest 6-4 6-3.

Luke had only 45 minutes' recovery time between the end of his semi-final and the final, where he faced Surrey's Sacha Modica, who ended the Swansea boy's title hopes by winning 6-3 6-3.

Luke said: "It's been a great week for me reaching the final. It was a shame that I my energy levels ran low in the final, but it's been a great experience."
