A FORMER Ospreys player went to watch the Swans with his girlfriend — and left with a fiancee.

Rhodri Wells popped the question to Lianne Morrell in the middle of the pitch at the Liberty Stadium at half-time yester- day, and Lianne didn't disappoint.

"The hardest part was keeping her out of the bar at half-time!" said Rhodri, who now plays his rugby for Principality Premiership side Carmarthen Quins.

The couple strode onto the pitch to pick up a signed ball they had won, and while out there Swansea City football club chaplain Kevin Johns, who was in on the proposal, passed Rhodri the microphone.

What could go wrong!

The scrum-half said he was no stranger to the Liberty turf, but had never had a crowd of 20,621 — yesterday's attendance for the Liverpool clash — looking on.

"I managed to get the words out, but I was a bit bumbling," said the 28-year-old, from Skewen.

He said both he and Lianne, 27, were "over the moon".

Rhodri said he and Lianne have been together for four-and-half years.

There was also good news for their 3-year-old son, Archie, who will get to keep the signed ball.
