A RENOWNED Llanelli restaurant is in the running to be named Best Place to Eat in Wales.

Sosban Restaurant in North Dock, Llanelli, has been shortlisted for Best Place to Eat in Wales at the National Tourism Awards for Wales.

Only 17 restaurants, pubs and cafes across Wales have been shortlisted from hundreds of entries and it is now down to the public to log online and decide which one will win.

There are three sub-categories for Best Place to Eat – Best Restaurant, Best Pub and Best Café. Sosban Restaurant has been shortlisted in the Best Restaurant category.

Ian Wood and Sian Rees, General Manager and head chef at Sosban said. "It's a great honour to be shortlisted for this prestigious award.

Since moving back to Wales, we have been lucky to have such great local produce available on our doorstep, and we try to allow these great flavours to stand out by cooking them in a traditional French style. It's a great honour to be recognised for the work we're doing, in trying to do our beautifully converted Pumphouse justice," they said.

Other shortlisted venues in the awards include The Checkers in Montgomery, The Grove Narberth and Tyddyn Llan in Corwen.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Llandudno in November.
