Leighton James: Action must be taken against Cardiff
Comments (23)

SOUTH Wales Police and the Football Association of Wales should take action over the behaviour of Mark Hudson and other Cardiff City players during their promotion celebrations.

A club captain has a position of responsibility so should not be chanting offensive songs about his side’s rivals on an open top bus parade.

When Alan Tate and Lee Trundle held up a flag containing a obscene message at the Millennium Stadium in 2006, they were fined, banned for a game and received a police caution.

How is this any different to that?

If the FAW and police are to appear consistent, Hudson and the others involved should be hit with a similar punishment.

There is footage available on the internet so anyone can see exactly what the players were belting out as they moved through the Cardiff streets.

Cardiff fans moaning about swansea last sunday on a bus for winning something in the lower league, two sundays later, swansea playing against man utd in alex ferguson's last ever game with the entire footy world watching them in the premier league :) Instant Karma!

I believe when Swansea got promoted Alan Tate and club captain Gary Monk stood at the Civic Centre and chanted 'Are you watching Cardiff scum?' Where was Leighton James then? Fool

Hardly anyone outside Cardiff takes Cardiff City FC seriously.

Hardly anyone outside Swansea takes Leighton James seriously, and some inside don't either...my personal view is that after many hours celebrating, Mark Hudson can be forgiven for his indiscretion this once, although shouldn't repeat it. It's a completely different case to Trundle & Tate who were both stone-cold sober, but you can't expect LJ to take a reasonable view on anything. At the end of the day though, this story is all about one thing only - selling newspapers. What else have the Football writers got to occupy themselves with until next season? Just stories about Swansea-Cardiff fans rivalry, and stories supplied by player's agents about who may be going where. (Yawn)

rgronow I never said Swansea is the bigger team, amazing you actually have to lie about what I said to make a point. Cardiff have more supporters because its the capital and they have a much bigger stadium. It means NOTHING. And the swans are also increasing capacity for 32k. The Teams that dropped into the Championship this year were disasters, wolves were relegated, blackburn were almost relegated and bolton did not even make the top 6. Its well known AT LEAST two of those clubs have self imploded over the last 2 years, so don't start lying about the status of them. They were **** and you know it. Swansea have just made 15+ million profit in the last 6 months, we are now in positive equity which is more than can be said for most clubs and certainly cardiff. You're frankly deluded if you think Swansea will drop next year, in year one we were 11th, in year two we will probably be 8th 9th and that was most of the season without a functioning striker and a 19 year old defender who was dropped into the deep end. We will bolster the squad next year and I'm sure Laudrup will account for Europa. Face the facts, swansea are flying the flag for wales in football, we are widely credited as an asset to the league, there is nothing about Cardiff as a club or a team that will inspire anyone, unless you're inspired by debt ridden, foreign owned, self your soul to the devil football clubs who will be facing the reality of relegation by Christmas 2013.
