PENLAN Club were made to fight all the way to beat Gowerton 2-0 in division one of the Pic-Up Spares Swansea Senior League.

Penlan finally went 1-0 up when Robert Connachie headed home a great cross on 35 minutes.

Penlan doubled their advantage when Karl Mucha headed home on the hour mark.

Gowerton had a great chance to cut the deficit late on but found Swansea Senior League representative goalkeeper Dale Hulland in fine form.

Kilvey Fords made up ground in the title chase with a 7-2 win over Carreg Wen Colts.

Carreg Wen put up a valiant fight but were outdone by goals from Liam Otten (3), Andrew Lorey (2) and Matthew Wiltshire (2).

Carreg Wen responded with goals from Joel Blaydon and Ricky Kellaway.

Morriston Olympic became the latest team to inflict a miserable afternoon on CRC Rangers with a 10-1 win.

This one-sided derby saw goals from Kris Lacey (3), Adam Palmer (2), Chris Williams, Sam Harrison, Jordan Jones, Kieron Griffiths and Rob Graham.

In division two, St Joseph's edged out Penclawdd 3-2.

It means Saints' return to division one is all but confirmed.

It needed a superb late goal from Drew Smitham to split the two sides.

An even first half saw both sides create numerous openings. Penclawdd went 1-0 up through Russell Price but were pegged level by Rob Jenkins's equaliser.

Ben Jones put Penclawdd 2-1 up against the run of play early in the second half, but with 20 minutes to go a Jenkins penalty drew Saints level.

Late on Smitham created the time and space to grab the winner.

Wern picked up a much-needed point in the 3-3 draw with Ynystawe Athletic.

Wern's goals were scored by Darran Evans, John Stewart and Jamie Martin.

Mumbles Rangers beat Murton Rovers 3-2 in their derby.

Mumbles took the lead on 20 minutes with keeper Jamie Ranford scoring from the spot after Andy Armstrong was brought down.

Murton equalised two minutes later when Mumbles failed to deal with a free-kick into the box.

But Mumbles retook the lead just before half-time with Ranford slotting home his second penalty after Ethan Young was brought down.

Mumbles extended their lead midway through the second half with Liam Brown tucking the ball away after Young's rasping free-kick wasn't held by the Murton keeper.

Murton pulled a goal back with five minutes to go but Mumbles held on to claim the points.
