SERIES eight hasn't even aired yet and rumours are already abound that Jenna Coleman is going to leave her Doctor Who role.

Coleman, who first appeared as companion Clara Oswald in 'Asylum of the Daleks' in September 2012, could be leaving after just 18 months on the show, at Christmas this year.

The decision is reportedly a "mutual" one, to keep the series moving forward.

“The conversations about Jenna’s exit have started, and a plan is in place which is being ironed out,” a source reportedly told the Daily Record.

“It’s important to keep the series moving and fast-paced, and the time is just starting to feel right and the feeling is that it could be a perfect Christmas storyline."

Although the BBC has declined to comment, the source noted that "everyone agrees it is a part that should change after a period.”
