IAN Watkins, the former Lostprophets singer jailed for sex offences against children, has not died in prison, despite reports in social media today.

Facebook and Twitter have been alive with claims that the singer had been found hanged in prison,

But the reports have been confirmed to be untrue, by the Prison Service.

A spokeswoman is reported as saying: "Ian Watkins has not died."

Watkins is serving 29 years behind bars after being sentenced in December last year.

An incorrect story about his death is said to have appeared on the Internet Chronicle website last month and sparked a flurry of activity on social networks today.

The same website recently carried a story about Ukranian forces invading Moscow, and George W Bush planning to ‘take back America’.

    The Papers shouldn't give this evil being the time of day. The only article we want to see printed is his actual death!!!!!!
