HUW Jenkins has insisted there is no chance of Michu leaving the Liberty in January — because Swansea City are only interested in improving their squad next month.

Michu has been touted as a possible target for clubs higher up the food chain after his extraordinary start to life in the Premier League.

Michael Laudrup has suggested an offer of £30 million would see Swansea consider selling the 13-goal star — but Jenkins does not expect any of Swansea's star men to depart during the winter window.

"We have got no thoughts about selling Michu or any other player in January," said the Swansea chairman.

"Our thoughts are firmly fixed on trying to strengthen our squad to make sure we are competitive in the second half of the season.

"There are a lot of games to be played and we need our best players with us to give us every chance of being successful."

Swansea are ready to spend some cash next month, with a new centre-forward thought to be top of Laudrup's wish list.

It is understood the club are monitoring a number of possible options but, as is often the case in the winter window, asking prices are proving to be a potential stumbling block.

"Our manager believes there's definitely a need to bring one or two players in," Jenkins added.

"We have brought a lot of new players in, many of them from Spain, and it's important that we make sure we have the strength in depth required for what is a long season."

Swansea have funds available to make at least one significant signing having sold Joe Allen (£15 million) and Scott Sinclair (£6.2 million) in August.

A "Hunter-Killer" type in midfield will do just fine for me together with a quality striker.
