A FAMILY home with specialist facilities including a hydrotherapy pool could soon been built in a quiet neighbourhood of Swansea.

Swansea Council has granted planning permission for a detached house at Fairwood Lane in Upper Killay.

The site, which has until now been used as garden for La Villeta at Middle Farm, borders on to playing fields.

The latest development has been specifically designed for family use where one member has specific physical needs.

Designs for the house include full wheelchair access throughout.

It will also feature a small lift to provide independent wheelchair access to the first floor.

A spokesman for Dewi Evans, the architects behind the project, said: "The proposal is to construct a single house with an integral garage and hydrotherapy pool.

"The proposed development will have a positive impact on community safety by developing part of an over large garden which is not readily accessible."
