A WOMAN from Gorseinon has died in a bar at a Bulgarian ski resort.

It is understood Nina Holmes — a member of the town’s famous fair and traveller family — was on holiday with her partner and friends when she collapsed in BJ’s Bar in Borovets on Monday.

She was rushed to hospital but could not be saved.

It is believed a number of other clubbers in the resort were also hospitalised on the same night, and Bulgarian police have launched an investigation.

The group had only flown out to the resort in the mountains south of Sofia on Saturday.

Ms Holmes’s boyfriend, Dean Herbert, led the tributes to his girlfriend, writing on Facebook: “Sleep tight my babes, promise you your cumin home.”

It is thought Ms Holmes’s body will be flown back to Britain today.

A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: “We are aware of the death of a British national in Bulgaria on February 3.

“We are providing consular assistance to the family.”

South Wales Police say they are aware of the incident and would be working with the Swansea coroner once the body is repatriated.

Friends of Ms Holmes have taken to Facebook to pay tribute.

Hayley Ravenscroft left a message reading: “Watched you grow from a lovely little girl to a stunning young lady now.

“A beautiful angel you are gonna be missed by so many in and out of showland. Keep doing what you do best and rock heaven.

“Goodnight Nina sleep tight.”

Barry Tiernan wrote: “I’m so sorry to hear this tragic news Dean. I can’t imagine what you are going through mate.

“My thoughts are with you at this terrible time. I am truly devastated and in complete shock :'(”

Steve Maitland Thomas described her as a “funny, beautiful, happy lady”.

He wrote: “I am deeply saddened she is no longer with us and will miss her as much as her warm smile. Deepest sympathies to Terry and her loving family.”
