MORE than 70 per cent of mums-to-be in Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot and Swansea have already had their flu vaccination.

The audit, carried out in maternity clinics across the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board (ABMU) area during December 2013, shows over three-quarters of pregnant women in the area have already had their 2013/14 seasonal flu vaccination.

Cathy Dowling, ABMU head of Midwifery, said: "For mums-to-be and their unborn baby flu is a life-threatening illness. It is vitally important pregnant women have their flu vaccination.

"I'm really pleased to see so many women have already taken up the vaccination. Those who haven't, I strongly urge them to get their vaccination now.
