A YOUNG girl was airlifted to hospital after she was in collision with a car in a Neath suburb last night.

At 6pm, emergency services were called to Cimla Road following the incident, which eye witnesses report happened in a lane near the CKs store and the Cimla Hotel, and next to the former post office.

It is not yet known how serious the girl's injuries were, but she was conveyed to hospital by air ambulance.

Fire crews from the Neath station - which is on the same road - attended the scene and helped the air ambulance paramedics in transferring the girl to the helicopter, which landed on Cimla Common.

As the Councillor for this area, I had 10mph signs erected in the lane some 12 months ago. I hope the little girl is recovering and is not hurt badly. Cllr Peter Rees

So drivers are turning off the main road into the lane without slowing down at 30mph? Don't be so ridiculous

I think it would make a big huge difference being the lane is one way and as we know the only way into it is to turn off the main road.I've nearly been hit there a few times in my life.

a speed limit change would not have made a difference in this case, it happened in a lane near CK's, not on Cimla road
