A SWANSEA woman says she has faced a near two-year wait for a hearing into her mum's death after a blood sample was mislaid.

Jacqueline Jones has spoken about her ordeal following the delay over the inquest into the death of Cynthia Jones.

She says she was told by the coroner's office the inquest had not taken place as Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board lost a blood sample.

The 83-year-old, of Ffordd Aneurin Bevan, Tycoch, died at Swansea's Morriston Hospital on January 15, 2011.

Miss Jones, a dispensing assistant from Uplands, said was surprised at the hold-up following her mum's sudden death after a fall.

A health board spokeswoman said it was unable to comment on the case but had given the information need. The coroner's office said the inquest would take place in the new year.

My heart goes out to this lady having to wait two years for this inquest.....sadly it does not surprise me. I suppose the next thing will be ABM Health Board will be blaming the public for turning up at A&E instead of using the GP service etc etc - oops, of course, they cannot comment as the matter is sub judice...
