Extras are wanted for a new film version of Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood, starring Rhys Ifans.

The pretty harbour village of Solva on St Brides bay in Pembrokeshire has been chosen to provide the backdrop to the poet’s play, with production expected to start on June 23. Auditions for background actors will be held at Solva Memorial Hall on Thursday May 29 between 4pm and 7pm.

Produced and directed by Twin Town’s creator Kevin Allen, the film will be shot in both English and Welsh, to appeal to both a local and global audience.

Under Milk Wood is the latest in a line of hit films to be choose west Wales for filming: Robin Hood, Snow White and the Huntsman, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part one and two were all filmed in various locations – as was Doctor Who spinoff The Sarah Jane Adventures.
